The purpose of our grants is to provide funding for the development of innovative and enriching educational projects within the existing goals and curriculum of the Canton Public Schools... In the fall grant cycle CAPE is interested in funding projects related to curriculum and will not fund after school programs or clubs.
Since being revitalized in 2004 CAPE has awarded 29 grants totaling over $45,000.
The number and amount of the grant awards in spring 2008 will be determined by the CAPE Board of Directors based on the success of fundraising activities and the quality of the applications. CAPE will not fund projects and materials which are normally the responsibility of the School Department, nor will it fund items typically funded by CAPT such as playground materials. CAPE encourages applications that impact on classroom experiences but will consider extracurricular activities.
Requests for purchase of equipment such as visualizers or laptop computers must demonstrate that this equipment is essential to the project, the equipment will be used in unique and innovative ways and existing equipment is fully utilized.
Commitments by a CAPT or other funding source to provide partial funding for a project that may exceed the resources of CAPE are encouraged.
